In 2023, one of the researchers at CESI, Prof. Dr. Ir. This program consists of 25 effective days, 20 days online, and 5 days offline. In these 25 days, the detachment assisted in preparing accreditation, managing journals, training in preparing research roadmaps, preparing research proposals, and mastering reference management.
Online Mentoring
Starting on August 21, 2023, the lecturer mobility program was opened by the Chancellor of UM Bulukumba, Drs. Jumase Basra, M.Si., and attended by more than 30 lecturers. Also present at the opening ceremony were the Vice Chancellors, Deans, Heads of Departments, and all university officials. The opening activity was very lively, followed by discussions about lecturer mobility orientation, target setting, and important points for accreditation of a study program.
Furthermore, online activities are carried out sequentially with accreditation assistance, writing research proposals, using reference management, and managing scientific journals. Each online activity is made into 3 sessions: (1) delivery of material by experts, (2) discussion between experts and lecturers, and (3) followed by independent discussions by lecturers, with all activities well recorded in the Zoom meeting. In general, this online activity ran smoothly and participants participated enthusiastically.
On-campus Activities
On-campus activities were carried out for 5 working days, from 9 October to 13 October 2023. All activities were carried out in the Campus hall of UM Bulukumba. On-campus activities were opened by Deputy Chancellor 1 of UM Bulukumba, Asdar S.Pd., M.Pd., who was accompanied by Deputy Chancellor 2 and Deputy Chancellor 3, Yuli Artati, S.E., M.Si. and Irfan, S.Pd., M.Pd. The opening ceremony continued with expert remarks and then a presentation of material. The target of these activities is the completion of accreditation documents for the English Education Study Program, review and improvement of research proposals, mastery of Mendeley, and completion of the self-evaluation of the Journal of Education Sciences: Foundation & Application in Arjuna.
Accreditation documents and evidence were presented by the Head of the Study Program, Nur Ina Syam, SS., M.Pd. who was accompanied by structural officials at the Quality Assurance Agency, Sri Wahyuni Thamrin, S.Pd., M.Pd. for two days, Monday and Tuesday 9-10 October 2023. The entire accreditation team also took part in the two-day event. The focus of this activity is to look at assessment indicators, performance data, and evidence. Not only that, identification of opportunities that make it possible to get the maximum score is also carried out, for example fulfilling the criteria for learning and research outcomes, especially regarding lecturer/student products/services that are adopted by the community. Next, a warm discussion was held regarding the preparation of self-evaluation reports, starting with policies, writing main performance indicators and additional performance indicators, evaluation methods, and ending with SWOT analysis and preparation of sustainable development strategies.
In the field of research, on-campus activities were also held for two days, Wednesday and Thursday, 11-12 October 2023. This activity began with a public lecture “Building a Lecturer Expertise Roadmap”, then, every lecturer at UM Bulukumba who took part in this activity was given a template for compiling an expertise roadmap. After that, participants presented research proposals and discussed them in depth. The administrative and substantive aspects of each research proposal are compared with the research assessment instruments in the Research Management Guidebook published by DRTPM. In this activity, experts and lecturers share experiences, starting from how to search for relevant literature, compiling the state of the art, conveying research ideas and novelties, and compiling research methods, research schedules, and research budgets. More discussions also took place, related to writing citations and references using Mendeley, on various citation styles and citation placement.
On Friday, October 13, 2023, on-campus activities will continue with the management of scientific journals, especially those related to accreditation. In this assistance, one of the journals managed by UM Bulukuma, Journal of Education Sciences: Foundation & Application (JESFA), was presented by its Editor in Chief, Ilmar Andi Achmad., M.Pd. Ilmar presented journal performance, completeness of journal policy, and examples of articles that have been published. Then, Ilmar registered for a journal accreditation account and carried out a self-evaluation against JESFA. In general, the journal’s performance is sufficient to apply for accreditation, but it must wait for two more issues to be submitted for accreditation, in accordance with the scientific journal accreditation guidelines. On the fifth day, the on-campus lecturer mobility was also closed by the Chancellor of UM Bulukumba.
Appreciation and Suggestions
UM Bulukumba has excellent growth potential in the future. The assets, human resources, students, noble vision, and support of stakeholders are very valuable capital. Their experience of transforming from STKIP to become a university is proof of their commitment to contributing to nation-building. Their enthusiasm and internal cohesion are able to overcome macro and micro issues related to higher education development. There are many brilliant ideas and initiatives from lecturers that support institutional development. Therefore, several strategic steps can be taken by management in order to achieve the organization’s goal of becoming a competitive university on a national and global scale. Strengthening vision and consistent quality assurance can be the entry point for strengthening university governance. Strengthening human resources, academic atmosphere, research, community service, and collaboration also need to be carried out continuously so that academic contributions can be expanded. On the other hand, academic competitions on a national scale such as research grants, learning and student creativity programs also need to be increased to expand the impact of universities on a national and global scale.
